costumes

As dancers, we wear so many different costumes. There are so many syles and colours that a teacher can choose for every song. Usually the costume has something to do with the song, either the mood or the story line. Because if it is just like some random colour or style, then it usually distracts from the dance and it doesn't make sense.
Costumes take such a long time to make. First, the teacher has to decide on what she or he wants the dancers to wear. Then usually they have to find a semstress to make the costume. Which means the dress maker has to come into the studio and get our measurments. Then they have to decide on a fabric to make the costume, and then actually make it. Then once they have made it, they have to bring it back into the studio, so we can try it on all over again, and hopfully it fits corectly, or else the dress maker has to go back and alter it. Then after all of this, we wear it on stage about eight times then it sits in our closets or get thrown out.
Usually dancers always have problems with costumes, they either don't fit right, or something gets caught on another thing, and comes off. And most of the time, we don't like the costumes.
But costumes are just one of the millions of things that dancers have to deal with. So, we put on the costumes while constantly complaining about it, and we rip it off as soon as we get off stage, yes... costumes are a wonderful thing.
