1. One thing about media that I already know is that everywhere we go, we are bombarded by advertisments, and there isn't anything we can do about it. People and companies are trying to sell you things every where you go. Whether we realize it or not. Companies put there products in shows and movies, to "secretly" try to get us to buy them.
2. I don't really know what I want to learn in this course. I guess it would be cool to learn about how companies make things sound so good or how they make an ad so effective. Also, I think it would be cool to just learn the tricks of how they do things.
3. I have learned about the types of things companies do to reach out to their buyers. Like "weasel words".
That is how the companies only talk or tell you about the "good" things in the product, they leave out any negative things that people should know but it might make them not buy their product. I have also learned that when we go see a movie, we are called a captive audience. And that a lot of people are complaining about having product commercials played before the movie as well as movie trailers. They think that it isn't right and fair not to tell us the time that the actualy movie starts, not when the previews and commercials start.

Good start- clearly you're engaged and reflecting on the topics we're working with in class- but what do YOU think about the things you addressed in your # 3 - do you feel as though you're a 'captive' in terms of the commercials that happen before a movie begins in the theatre?
