Media Blog 2

This week we were looking at product placement in movies and TV shows. I never really realized how much companies try to advertise in movies. Before, I would just watch the movie, but now I pay attention to the things that companies are trying to secretly get you to be interested in. In a way, I think that product placement is a better way to advertise. Only because with commercials, they can just change the channel once commercials come on because most people hate watching commercials, I know i do. But if it is stuck in the middle of a movie scene, they won't change the channel, because then they will miss part of the movie. Also, if they see a commercial of a product, sometimes they might not remember it. But if they see their favourite celebrity wearing or using it in a movie they went to see, they are more likely to remember it and think it's "cool". But, sometimes people do not notice product placement in movies. But I still think that product placement is more effective than commercials.
